Group Differences: E-learning Anxiety and Sense of Spatial Orientation -- Groups Divided by Felder-Silverman Learning Style

This study is based on the online course, called Modern Educational Technology, in Shaanxi Normal University. At the beginning, 2639 students who take participate in this course during the first semester in 2013 are clustered depending on the Felder-Silverman Learning Style. Secondly, a series of analysis, such as One-Way ANOVA, Pared-Samples T Test, and Pearson Correlation Analysis, are carried out on the e-learning anxiety and sense of spatial orientation among groups with different learning styles. Finally, results are summarized from the aspect of group similarities and differences. Research findings indicate that (1) the sequence of e-learning anxiety from high to low is time-delay anxiety, failure anxiety, search anxiety and terminology anxiety for all the groups. (2) There is a significant negative correlation between e-learning anxiety and sense of spatial orientation, the absolute value of Pearson´s correlation coefficient between sense of spatial orientation and terminology anxiety is larger than other types of anxiety in all the groups.(3)The sensitive, visual, sequential, and active learners have higher e-learning anxiety than other groups, however, the intuitive, verbal, global, and reflective learners have stronger sense of spatial orientation than other groups.
