  • Abstract
A simple approach for bit error rate (BER) evaluation of a CDMA parallel interference canceller (PIC) receiver is suggested. In this approach, we consider the probability of correctness of the tentative decisions of each stage that are used for interference estimation and cancellation. The front stage of the receiver could arbitrarily employ any type of multiuser detection technique without affecting the complexity of the analysis. The approach can be extended to M-stage PIC and also could be used for fading channel cases. Depending on the BER performance of the detection block, there will be some inaccuracy in the estimated interference that affects the BER of the whole detector. Based on this view, the probability of error is derived and analytical results are compared with simulations. The results indicate the accuracy of the proposed approach.
