  • Abstract
The resource of frequency becomes more and more limited in wireless communications because the expansion of users and services. In this paper, a novel method is put forward to improve the usage of frequency resource of wireless communications systems under multi-service conditions. Assuming the instantaneous channel gains for one user is known, the method mentioned in the article is based on the OFDM technique, combined with an adaptive transmission algorithm. Our goal is to find an optimal bit and subcarrier allocation for the services, which can tradeoff between BER required of services and throughput. As a result of the calculations and simulations in many conditions, a table with bit and subcarrier allocations to kinds of services can be produced. This table can be put in transceivers; each service to be transmitted can find its corresponding bit and subcarrier allocation, which makes the adaptive system cheaper, more practical, and simpler.
