Abstract :
The proliferation of Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) enabled devices has made new threats to the security and availability of the whole wireless network a reality. As the number of users and customers on digital mobile networks surpass the number of Internet and wireline telephony users, and with the integration of digital mobile telephony and the Internet, it becomes the more necessary to deal with such threats. In order to understand the vulnerabilities of the WAP environment, we have undertaken an analysis of possible attacks similar to those that have been reported for the Internet. We report the results of our study and propose some remedies to deal with such weaknesses.
