Abstract :
Finite-element analysis and one-dimensional closed-form equations are used to compute AC resistance in high-frequency transformer designed for high-power applications. Simple winding arrangements as well as interleaved windings are studied. Secondary windings with multiple parallel-connected foils are analyzed and shown to be ineffective in reducing eddy-current losses. In addition, the high-frequency impedance of a high-current termination is analyzed. Laboratory measurements are provided to support the computed results.<>
