Abstract :
By defining and optimizing the process used to make a product reliable, and then integrating this process into the basic design process, companies can significantly reduce the amount of time and resources required to achieve world-class reliability. The emerging CALS environment, coupled with effective design and use of relational database tools, is a key enabling technology in the optimization and integration of these processes. By linking a company´s data resources and people within a single, consistent user environment, CALS will enable the creation of `virtual teams´ of individuals and organizations that work concurrently to identify and resolve reliability problems more quickly, efficiently and accurately
