Abstract
Providing services with controlled quality of service (QoS) is critical to 3rd generation cellular systems. Introduction of IP to the wireless network makes it easier to guarantee the end-to-end QoS. The paper analyzes the mapping between QoS defined in UMTS bearer services and core network QoS definition in order to ensure the end-to-end QoS. The Differentiated Service is introduced into the wireless domain. Dynamic resource reservation is analyzed and used to guarantee the QoS in the case of handover. The architecture as well as the components inside is analyzed in detail.
