Abstract :
Attenuation due to rain is an important constraint in microwave radio link design especially at frequencies above 10 GHz. Although, models proposed by ITU-R for the prediction of rain attenuation give a good estimation of the signal attenuation caused by rain for temperate regions, recent studies show that it underestimates the same in tropical regions. Microwave attenuation due to rain at 26 GHz and 38 GHz was measured for a period of one year in the Malaysian environment and the results obtained are compared with those predicted by the ITU-R and other available models
