Abstract
There is a surge of research and commercial interest aimed at the development of high quality speech coders at low bit rates. In this article, we have focused on the quantization part for the new proposed coder model D. Derrien (2001) partly based on the MBE model. One of the advantages of our new model is to represent the speech signal with a restricted number of parameters. The quantization of these parameters is on one hand based on the normalized MBE coder quantization and on the other hand on a new quantization scheme, in particular for the parameters deriving from our new model.
