This work presents the methodology utilized for the development of the numerical module of SIPREX, an expert system for digital filter design. This system integrates knowledge on the different techniques and application areas of digital signal processing with powerful numerical algorithms, representing a valuable tool for the solution of problems involving analysis and synthesis of digital filters
