Abstract :
The optical acceptance angle is a key parameter for concentrator photovoltaic devices and must be harmonized with the specifications of the tracking system if optimal performance is to be achieved. A procedure for the experimental determination of this parameter is presented, together with results for both single cell CPV devices and full modules under natural solar illumination. For the European Solar Test Installation (ESTI) the implementation of standardized characterization methods is important (as part of its mission as member of IEC TC82 WG7) and the described test procedure will be introduced in one of the laboratories ISO17025 accredited schemes.
