            Abstract :
To cope with the ever-growing demand for computing power, the space community is working for introducing Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components in future space missions. As COTS components are not designed for working in such a hostile environment like space, suitable fault detection, isolation and recovery strategies are needed to guarantee the dependability of the system using COTS components, along with a part selection procedure to assure the proper level of quality. This paper describes a framework to automate the generation of a reliable architecture for data handling computers for space applications.
