Abstract :
The results of systematic spectroscopic investigations of a polymer for ophthalmological implants are presented. It is shown that spectral sampling of implants has advantages and is required to detect low-level effects of weakly degrading factors. Analysis of the infrared Fourier transform spectra of polysiloxane intraocular lenses allows the degree of polymerization of the material required to produce samples nontoxic to the eye to be determined
