  • Abstract
A half-bridge resonant converter with zero-current switching (ZCS) and pulsewidth modulated (PWM) control is presented. The converter is derived from the parallel resonant converter (PRC), and the PWM control is obtained by the addition of a third ZCS switch in series with the resonant capacitor. The converter operates at fixed frequency, in the discontinuous current mode. A simplified theoretical steady-state analysis is developed and the converter characteristics are presented. Design considerations are outlined, and a design example, illustrated by digital simulation results, is presented and discussed
