Abstract :
The risks associated to electrical motors running in hazardous areas are known for many years, and the new requirements for the classification according to the ATEX directives for the corresponding zone are well integrated by the manufacturers. But when these motors are subject to repair, the ATEX directives and IEC standards introduce new rules affecting the field of responsibilities of the involved parties, the manufacturer, the user and the repair agent. This paper presents a method for a motor manufacturer to delegate repairs to third parties according to the products directive, so that the motors remain still covered by their original declarations of conformity after these repairs.
