Abstract :
In this paper, we analyze the state of water vapor in several kinds of gases and its effect on partial discharges by using FT-IR spectroscopy. The results show that the state of water vapor in N2 , O2 and SF6 is not much different from the state in vacuum, but the state in CO2 is quite different from the others. In all cases, the state of water vapor in these gases decreased similarly. And the large water clusters which disturb partial discharge phenomena are not formed. It is difficult to form large water clusters in these gases even if a negative partial discharge occurs. However, the negative and positive partial discharge inception voltages are influenced by the amount of water vapor in many cases
