Abstract :
This paper deals with loss calculations of low speed 45 kW permanent magnet synchronous motors with concentrated windings. All motors calculated have the same frame size, air-gap diameter, air-gap length and the same amount of permanent magnet material. Finite element method (Cedrat Flux2D) and analytical method are used in calculations. Losses calculated with both methods are compared and losses of motors with different pole pair numbers are compared as well.
