Abstract
This paper introduces a novel two-phase flux reversal permanent magnet alternator for high-speed applications. The altemator has four magnets, four-pole stators and two-pole rotor and is categorized as a doubly salient permanent magnet machine (DSPM). Due to a low number of poles, this structure is suitable for high-speed applications, so that frequency is minimized and iron losses decreased. Also, a double-stator structure is used to compensate energy in each cycle. The principle of operation, design, modelling and finite element analysis of the alternator are investigated in this paper.
