Abstract :
The paper presents a novel algorithm for the central Augmentation Index (AI) estimation and it is robust and suitable for long-term monitoring. To increase the robustness of the proposed method, only first and second order derivatives of the Central Aortic Pressure (CAP) pulse are used. Low-order Legendre polynomials approximation was applied for some intervals of the CAP waveform to find locations of special points on the CAP curve, which are participate in the AI evaluation. Continuous monitoring plots of the AI after administrating a tablet of 0.5 mg sublingual nitroglycerin are presented.
