Abstract :
This paper presents the application of a fuzzy logic controlled particle swarm optimization (FLCPSO) to reactive power and voltage control (Volt/VAR control or VVC) considering voltage stability. An improved particle swarm optimization with three fuzzy controllers based on some heuristics is proposed to adaptively adjust the parameters of PSO, such as the inertia weight and learning factors, during the optimization process. The proposed FLCPSO can be applied to a wide range of optimization processes. The validity of FLCPSO is illustrated on the VVC problem of the IEEE 30-bus power system. Compared with conventional PSO with linearly changed inertia weight and fixed learning factors, the results by the proposed method have demonstrated improved performances
