Abstract :
This paper focuses on the application of a controllable distributed generator (CDG) for stabilization of tie-line power oscillations in an interconnected power system including wind farms. While concerning adverse effects of wind power, CDG is utilized to improve the damping performance of a power system. The designed controller has a structure of second-order lead/lag compensator. In particular, the control design problem is formulated as an optimization problem and a tabu search algorithm is employed to automatically obtain the parameters of the designed controller. Consequently, results and evaluations are carried out to illustrate the performance and effectiveness of the proposed control scheme
