Abstract :
In order to characterize a drive tests are carried out under static and dynamic working conditions. The static tests verify the system performances in a pre-set number of working points in the speed regulation range and at the rated supply conditions provided for the specifications The dynamic tests verify the drive performances and operation continuity during electrical transients on the power supply network and the mechanical transients. In this paper, the authors accomplish a description of the implemented VXI-based measurement station for digital efficiency measurements on high and low power electrical drives. Then, the most significant quantifies for VSD performance evaluation are discussed and test procedures for VSD dynamic characterization are illustrated
