Abstract :
Summary form only given. Highly efficient generation of CW UV laser radiation on the basis of diode-pumped solid-state lasers is becoming one of the most active areas in laser technology innovations owing to the growing industrial and scientific demand for continuous UV lasers. However, many difficulties exist to realize an effective continuous solid-state laser at 266 nm. The only efficient solution for this is to enhance the laser power of the fundamental wave at 532 nm within an external resonator. The first CW UV laser at 266 nm is accomplished by frequency doubling the 532 nm output of a diode pumped Nd:YAG laser with the actively stabilized unidirectional ring cavity based on the novel DELTACONCEPT. A power enhancement by a factor of more than 100 is achieved within the ring resonator.
