Abstract :
Magnetron injection gun (MIG) in gyrotrons is used to produce the gyrating electron-beam to interact with the high frequency field. The performance of the tube are mainly related to the quality of the electron-beam, but the side-band cathode emission degenerate the performance of MIG. This paper demonstrated the causes of side-band emission, and a validated experiment was carried out. The side-band emission was observed and some corresponding improvements in experiment to suppress the emission were proposed.
