Abstract :
For open architectures to facilitate application portability, they must provide standardized interfaces and a set of common services. The Software Communications Architecture, through the results of the JTRS Step 2A validation activities, demonstrated that successfully incorporating these architectural features leads to a straightforward and efficient application porting effort. A vital part of porting software applications is to complete a comprehensive porting plan prior to the actual effort. Both software application and hardware provider must clearly understand their respective roles and agree to the process. This paper presented a three-step process for porting waveform software applications, namely: port the application to the standardized interfaces of the architecture; port the application to the hardware-unique interfaces; and integrate the application into the actual hardware system
