Abstract
As one of the most important pests of Oilseed rape in Iran, Waxy aphid (Brevicoryne brassicae L.) deserves to be undertaken for the investigation. The authors reported in this manuscript some initial mode of actions of two plant lectins (GNA and ConA) on enzyme activity of aphid midgut. Lectins solutions were incorporated in artificial diet. Effect of lectin on activity of some digestive enzymes with two kind of substrate was tested. The results showed that feeding of aphids by lectins had no effect on their enzyme activity using of common substrate of proteinases, but it caused decreases in activity of aminopeptidase. Even though the further investigation is still in great need. The present results indicate that, ConA and GNA have good potential for control of this pest and deserve further investigation.
