Abstract
This paper studies application of different optimization approachs in plate rolling schedule design. First of all, the optimization index function and constraints are defined according to the features of plate mill and the plate, then the linear programming method, genetic algorithm and particle swarm algorithm are applied to optimize rolling schedule respectively. Finally, the results are analyzed and compared. The findings show that both particle swarm and genetic algorithm work better in controlling plate shape, but their efficiency is to be improved for online use as a lot of data and plenty of time are needed for iterative computations.
