Abstract :
We report a carbon nanotube (CNT) field emission electron gun for traveling-wave tube (TWT), in which a patterned CNT bundle array grown by microwave plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition was employed as electron source with a maximum electron current density of 4.5A/cm2. A dual focus lens was designed to achieve a 3.3:1 compress ratio in diameter of electron beam and very small convergence angle as well as nice good laminarity.
