    The eight papers in this special section were presented at the Twelfth Asia Pacific Bioinformatics Conference (APBC2014), which was held in Shanghai, China, 17-19 January, 2014. The papers cover diverse topics, including protein complex prediction, nucleosome positioning, biological data classification and clustering, sequence comparison, genome reconstruction, and enhancers etc.
