Abstract
Schools (K-12) in the US have been asked under the Federal Government´s Goals 2000 program to provide Internet access to all students by the year 2000. It is a worthy goal but funding so far has been inadequate. We have used a cost effective approach to help schools stretch their budgets. We have designed computer networks to connect entire school districts using wireless technology that provides high bandwidth with very low recurring costs. We demonstrate the success of three wireless installations and analyse their cost effectiveness relative to leased line networks
