Abstract :
Scatterometer model functions for both Ku-band and C-band, which directly estimate friction velocity, have been developed and are being tested with radar and in-situ data acquired during two major field experiments. For the SWADE experiment Ku-band measurements are being used to estimate u*. The ERS-1 Sigma-O measurements (C-band) were collected as part of the NORCSEX ´91 CAL/VAL campaign in conjunction with shipboard, direct meteorological measurements of friction velocity coincident with the ERS-1 overpass
