Abstract
With the increasing trend towards wireless multimedia transmission, robust video transmission over time-varying wireless links becomes increasingly important. The question for realtime video is, given the bandwidth and delay constraints, how to achieve maximal visual quality when the channel is subjected to random and bursty errors. The goal of this paper is to salvage as many data from the damaged packets as possible for the highest possible visual quality. In this work, we propose a bitstream level error correction/concealment method using reliability information from soft output channel decoder. Results show that the proposed method can effectively combat residual errors in typical error prone wireless links such as 3G wireless systems, consequently achieving very high after-concealment video quality
