Abstract :
Pseudo-chaotic time hopping is a recently proposed encoding/modulation scheme for ultra wideband impulse radio for multiple access. The chaotic mapping scheme has great effect on the performance of pseudo-chaotic time hopping system. The double-tent map has a better performance than the Bernoulli shift map within the same data rate. In this paper, we improve the double-tent map pseudo-chaotic time hopping in using antipodal pulse amplitude modulation (PAM), instead of time-hopping modulation, and this manipulation provides a better bit error rate (BER). We provide the analysis of the improvement of the BER performance and validate it by simulation. Compared to the system of Bernoulli shift map, the improved system provides a better BER performance and increases the data rate
