Abstract :
Transmitted-reference ultra wideband (TR-UWB) systems adopt autocorrelation receiver (AcR) as a suboptimal receiver, which offers a good performance but a simple structure. In order to enhance the performance of the AcR without increasing the complexity of the receiver structure, some improvement is made in this paper. We combine a limited number of multipath to capture enough received signal energy and suppress the noise by averaging the received signals. A quasi-analytical/experimental approach is applied to analyze the performance of this improved AcR. Finally, simulations are carried out under the multipath circumstances and comparisons are made to demonstrate the performance improvement of the improved autocorrelation receiver
