Abstract :
Summary form only given. Rule-based expert system techniques for use with an interactive cytophotometry system have been developed and tested. The application for this system was the detection and measurement of individual cells and chromosome spreads stained specifically for the virus that causes AIDS. A microscopic cytophotometry system was used to acquire digitized images of labeled cells and chromosomes. The expert system controlled a set of program modules that processed the digitized video image through several data transduction phases to the final state of measurement and identification
