Abstract :
This paper presents a power disturbance detection and classification method based on a digital filtering technique. The key idea underlying the approach is to decompose a disturbed or distorted signal using a multi-channel filter bank. The decomposed signals are then processed to classify and evaluate the power disturbances. The proposed method has the potential to evaluate various power quality disturbances, such as interruptions, sags and steady state distortions. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been demonstrated under simulated typical power disturbances
