Abstract :
At first the traffic data collection mathematic analytic models by detectors have been analyzed in paper. From the analysis we know that the traffic data collection is a stochastic process. The data from detectors are functions of time and road location. So when using detectors data for research traffic flow characters, time and location attribute of these data must be considered. After using the actual data we have gotten the conclusions that, for analyzing and researching the traffic flow characters, using one usual traffic model or one model at a certain location to research the whole road traffic flow characters is not exact. According to the results in paper the space attribute of detectors must be taken into consideration for researching the expressway traffic flow characters.
