Abstract
A simple 2-D oscillator is used as an example system to present the observation. The so-called "coupling factor", a, is investigated and is shown to have a number of interesting effects on the spectrum of this particular oscillator. It is found that the peak shift of the oscillator spectrum results from the value of a. The mathematical analysis of this system shows the linear relationship between coupling factor and centre frequency as well. An accurate analytical expression is derived to predict the oscillator spectrum and verified experimentally
