Abstract
In this paper we address the topic of digital nuclear spectroscopy as seen as a counterpart of the classic analogue approach. We analyze with a special care the impact of the quantization noise on the system performance evidencing the role of the antialiasing prefilter in this respect. A figure of merit is introduced which compares the effectiveness of a real antialiasing filter as a quantization noise suppresser to that of the optimal configuration
