  • Abstract
A large signal computer model which correctly simulates the transient and steady-state behavior of the series resonant converter (SRC) in its many discontinuous and continuous conduction operation modes is introduced. The algorithm is accurate and much faster than a straight SPICE computer simulation because only a few points are actually calculated during a complete converter switching period. Convergence problems generally encountered in computer simulations of resonant and PWM converters were not observed in this algorithm implementation. Various implementations of the model in open and closed-loop simulations of the converter are presented. The stability of the frequency controlled SCR is investigated with the use of the large signal model. The algorithm is implemented in the SABER computer simulation package to model the series resonant converter as part of a complete power distribution system for aerospace applications
