Abstract :
The authors have proposed a new coding method based on biological DNA and a mechanism of development from the artificial DNA (T. Yoshikawa et al., 1995; 1996). We call this coding method “DNA coding method”. This method has redundancy and overlapping of genes. The paper combines this method with the Pseudo-Bacterial Genetic Algorithm (PBGA) (T. Furuhashi et al., 1994; 1996). The PBGA utilizes mechanisms of genetic recombination in bacterial genetics. This algorithm is efficient in improving local portions of chromosomes. The paper applies this combined method to knowledge acquisition of fuzzy control rules, and studies how genes evolve by the bacterial operation
