Abstract :
In this paper we use a smart phone accelerometer combined with both a voice response detection function and a GPS function not only to design but also to implement a monitoring system which will detect falls. In addition to a previous design this new design requires that the smart phone be placed in a pocket and provides the function of voice response detection to determine whether the user needs help. By using a GPS this design estimates both the user walking distance and path as depicted on the GPS map. When a fall occurs the GPS data sends both emergency messages and the actual location of the user to the recipient.
