Abstract :
In order to expand the capacity of the digital cellular system in Japan, the half-rate digital cellular system is indispensable. Full-rate mobile stations are already in wide use. Therefore, on the introduction of the the half-rate system, the support for full-rate mobile stations is necessary. Moreover, dual-rate mobile stations are needed to efficiently utilize the current full-rate network. From the viewpoint of realization, this paper describes suitable techniques and the system configuration for a half-rate system. Also the efficient utilization of the transmission-line is described
