Abstract
A computer-aided system has been developed for monitoring the ageing process of high voltage machine insulation. It allows continuous recording of the discharge current pulses, thus providing greater information on the behaviour of insulating systems. To examine the discharge characteristics (PD), software programs have been developed to store, process and analyse the information gathered during the tests. The system can be used to relate insulation condition to the different stages through which the insulation passes throughout its lifetime
