  • Abstract
In nonstationary channels, such as mobile satellite communications channels, error rates vary considerably. The paper proposes an effective go-back-N ARQ scheme which estimates the channel state in a simple manner and adaptively switches its operation mode in a channel where error rates vary slowly. It provides higher throughput than other comparable ARQ schemes under a wide range of error rate conditions
