Abstract
Publication, by the Underwriters Laboratory, of a safety standard for uninterruptible power supply (UPS) equipment is reported. It is used for evaluating UPS units to determine that the design provides a reasonable reduction of the risk of injury to persons and damage to property during use. The standard covers static-type UPSs that are cord and plug connected or permanently wired. Products used with UPSs are also covered, including remote battery supply cabinets with or without batteries, remote status panels, bypass switches, and maintenance bypass switches. The standard will be submitted for processing as an American National Standard by the American National Standards Institute.<>
