Abstract
A configuration of combined controller of a SMES with a series phase compensator and its control scheme for the power system stabilization and fault current limiting has been proposed. In this paper, the effectiveness of the proposed controller is evaluated from the viewpoints of current limiting, steady-state stability improvement and transient stability improvement based on several numerical analyses including PSCAD/EMTDC simulations
