Abstract
This paper applies to power systems a design method for robust controllers based on the solution of linear matrix inequalities. The control structure preserves the current structures employed in the industry. The method is applied to a one machine-infinite busbar test system. The robust power system stabilizer is compared to a power system stabilizer designed by a pole placement technique. An assessment of this approach for applications to large power systems concludes the paper
