Abstract :
Performance evaluation of two channel assignment algorithms in cellular digital packet data (CDPD) networks is presented. Comparisons are made for three categories, namely, data throughput, average delay, and normalized voice traffic loss. Both simulation and analytical approaches are used to arrive at the results. The effects of varying the burst size, data traffic, and channel characteristics are investigated. Recommendations are made based on the merits of each algorithm
