  • Abstract
In this paper we present a methodology to minimize the blocked calls in Cellular Mobile Systems (CMS). The methodology uses a surrogate model to simulate the behavior of the system. Then it deploys a meta-heuristic to optimize the irradiated power of the antennas aiming at better divide the cells, thus minimizing the call blocking of the CMS. We deployed two well-known meta-heuristics, called Genetic Algorithms (GA) and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), for the minimization of the blocked calls and compared the performance of both approaches. We achieved a reduction of more than 58% in the blocked calls considering a real world inspired case study. From preliminary results we observed that our proposal can achieve good results for real CMS.
